Tim Knowles’ Tree Drawings

June 7, 2015

I think it’s high time we turned the table here at Plant Propaganda, and let the plants speak for themselves as not just subjects, but as artists. Don’t you?

Well, thanks to British artists Tim Knowles, a few special trees have gotten the chance to express themselves, so to speak.

Knowles attaches pens to the tips of a trees’ branches and then allows the natural movement of the tree and its’ environment to produce a work of art. Wind, of course, but also the movement of animals in the branches, tremors in the earth and the plants’ natural tropisms all contribute to a finished piece that captures the essence of time, place and each individual tree.
