The Fall Garden Fair is an educational community event hosted at The Oregon Garden in Portland, Oregon and produced in partnership with the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs. I was tasked with producing a logo for the event, as well as posters, flyers, programs and signs for both digital and print. Featured on the poster is an original photograph I took of orange helenium from the garden where the event would be taking place.
The logo was to be bold, iconic and easily legible at various sizes. I wanted it to be more modern than designs traditionally associated with garden events, so I opted for big, block letters with simply botanical silhouettes rather than the florals and script one might typically use. I generated a series of designs, all of which used autumn colors and the recognizable image of oak and maple leaves to evoke the idea of fall, and ultimately settled on the one that felt the most balanced.
